I delight in walking Fern, my English Springer Spaniel, through the woods and fields around Stanmer and over the South Downs.

Royal Pavilion gardens
On the other side of New Road, right opposite the theatre, are the gardens of the Royal Pavilion. For some reason which I have forgotten, these were never laid out according to the original plan until a few years ago.
