I delight in walking Fern, my English Springer Spaniel, through the woods and fields around Stanmer and over the South Downs.

Field Scabious
Also known as Ladies' Pincushion, this is a common wild flower on chalk land like the South Downs. Perhaps surprisingly, it is a member of the teazel family.
